Nha Trang is Vietnam’s dive capital for beginners. Most trips head to Hon Mun, an island inside the Nha Trang Bay Marine Protected Area, about 15–20 minutes by boat from the city. The season runs roughly March to October, with visibility around 10–15 m and the clearest water usually in June and July. Water sits at about 26–30°C.

What diving in Nha Trang is like

  • Easy, shallow reefs with hard and soft corals and small reef life – ideal for first dives and training.
  • Short boat rides, so a dive day often fits two dives plus lunch on the boat.
  • Beginner-friendly operators offering try dives, Open Water and Advanced courses.

Off-season: from about November to January, wind and rain make the sea rough and visibility poor. Trips can be cancelled; plan Phu Quoc instead – see the best time to dive.
